Completed June 2023, this ink print was displayed at Grays Harbor College Art Gala. The Octopus is intelligent and creative; symbolizing connection, relationships and bringing people and cultures together. The Octopus is revered as a divine protector, with its’ ability to overcome challenges as it guides us through life. As a Native American artist, I utilize my understanding of native form line to depict the movement, flexibility and wrestling of the limbs with the challenges it faces while utilizing its large eye to see issues from multiple points of view, and develop solutions.

Artist Statement
Mark, a Lummi Nation enrolled member from Bellingham, Washington, found his passion for Coastal Native Form line art early on.
While initially pursuing a different path, his artistic spark was reignited with the support of his wife, Jozette. Drawing from his heritage and inspired by Hawaiian beauty, Mark creates pieces that blend cultures and evoke emotion.
Starting with pencil sketches, he transforms his designs into Giclee prints on premium materials, personally finishing each piece with reclaimed frames.
